Waterfalls

There were those incredible waterfalls on land… surrounded by the tropical rainforest…

Tall, powerful fountain-like ones,

Ones that cascaded over the bedrock in steps, wide ones, narrow chutes they were incredible.

We’d climb up to the top, on the cliffside, standing in the shallow water as it would simply free fall, over the edge…

Race you, I’d say with a wink,

Looking back at you…

Not if I get there first… you’d say running from behind and jumping off backwards, waving back at me… before I could register what even happened

Om!

No fair,

And I’d run and leap behind you –

Swan dive down…

Graceful was always my way…

I couldn’t help it…

Had to have the form

To hit the water seamlessly

Without getting hurt… slipping under the surface… like nothing even happened, coming back up for air…

You… on the other hand…

Could have your hands behind your head as you relaxed on the way down, sailing, not even looking…

And what if you hit the rocks

I’d say…

You wanted to know what I’d do then…

I would just look at you and you’d smile softly and reach for my hand… at my expression

I’m the King… that won’t happen…

and I’d relax.

Me front first,

sailing

And you, on your back,

Falling

Carefree

That was You and Me.

Eventually as if sensing the water pool at the bottom, you’d flip turn and sail down and through

bursting upward with the inhale like you just had an afternoon nap, refreshed and exhilarated and we’d laugh…

I won…

I’d say…

In terms of finesse… you’d counter with your hand on your chin…

And a look at Me…

all the animals watching around us now,

I still win,

and you’d grab me and put me on your back…

but you’re still the Queen.

And you’d carry me out of the water,

and we’d go again

For the joy of the fall

And how we’d pick

Ourselves up again. – Shanti ♾️
